Bayern Ends Pursuit Of Marco Reus

Feb 2, 2015 9:41 AM

Bayern Munich intends to let the January transfer deadline pass without adding to the squad and have abandoned their pursuit of Marco Reus.

Bayern expects to be without Javi Martinez, Thiago Alcantara and Philipp Lahm until March, while Franck Ribery and Rafinha will also be absent with less serious problems.

Reus will be available for €25 million in the summer, but he reportedly prefers a move to Real Madrid.

Pep Guardiola has concerns about Reus due to his injury history.

United Making Final Push For Mats Hummels Or Aymeric Laporte

Jan 30, 2015 8:34 AM

Manchester United will make one final push to sign either Mats Hummels of Borussia Dortmund or Aymeric Laporte of Athletic over the final days of the January transfer window.

Either player would significantly help United's defense.

While the likelihood is that neither will move in January, sources say the Premier League club have had a little more encouragement over the past two weeks with both targets.

Inter Plans On Making Summer Run For Yaya Touré

Jan 29, 2015 2:35 PM

Inter Milan plans on making a run to sign Yaya Touré this summer.

Roberto Mancini would have an opportunity to reunite with Touré if Inter is successful in their bid.

“Yaya is one of the strongest players in the world,” Mancini told the Italian newspaper Il Giornale. “He still is. He has played in so many teams. He has been in leagues in Belgium, Russia, Spain and England. Italy is the one missing. This could be the right opportunity for him to come and try.

“We are building a team. There are players that change the look of a team, and Yaya is one of them. Next year we could try. We need to bring three champions, and we will see that we will be ready to fight for the scudetto.”

Touré is under contract with City until June 2017.

Agent: Balotelli Will Leave Liverpool For €60M Or Die There

Jan 30, 2015 8:34 AM

Mario Balotelli's agent believes having his client at Liverpool will be the biggest lesson of his career.

“Liverpool are different from other clubs," Mino Raiola told La Gazzetta dello Sport in a wide-ranging interview. “There, [because of Brendan Rodgers’s philosophy] they can’t allow themselves 10 players who run and a superstar [who doesn’t]. Mario is a player who changes a game for you in two or three moments, so they have to adapt to him and him to them.

“I saw him on Monday and said: ‘You’ve got a [long] contract and I’m not taking you away. Either you leave Liverpool for €60 million or €70 million and I win the bet or you die there’. It’s the first time that I’ve had such a conversation with a player. I saw that he was calm, changed, different with respect to at Milan. Very disappointed in himself too.

“He is going through times he’s never had before. Before everybody wanted him to do well. He had space. At Liverpool, no: either you do as we say or you stay out [of the team]. Then he was out injured for eight weeks. He lost rhythm.”

Raiola regrets ever letting him leave Manchester City to return to Italy.

Everton Won't Make Big Gamble In January Transfer Market

Jan 28, 2015 7:18 PM

Everton is unlikely to take a "big gamble" at the end of the January transfer window.

Roberto Martínez told the club's official webite: "January is not the place to find solutions [in the transfer market]. Our moment of form, we want to change, but the solutions are in the squad.

"There are players coming back from injury to create the competition in the squad and I don’t feel it is the window to bring solutions for us.

"With Arouna Kone being fully fit, I see him as a replacement for Samuel's position and it is more about trying to get the players back from injury.

"Steven Pienaar and Leon Osman have been two players missing throughout the season which has been disappointing because they are important in the way we want to play.

"Leon played in every single game last season and we miss what he brings. So I am looking around that.

"We are always working and if we can do something to help the players we have got at the club then we will do something. But what's clear is that January is not very straightforward.

"You never get value for money (in January), first and foremost, and you will not get players you have been following for a long time. And if you want to rely on January to find solutions for your season then it is a big gamble. But we will carry on working."

Gareth Bale Insists He Prefers To Remain At Real Madrid

Jan 29, 2015 11:28 AM

Gareth Bale has no intention of leaving Real Madrid for Manchester United or any other club.

Bale has played well since joining Real Madrid in August of 2013.

Persistent speculation has linked Bale with a big-money return to the Premier League, with United boss Louis van Gaal refusing to confirm or deny the rumours last month.

The 25-year-old told "El Larguero" that he was content to remain at Madrid for years to come.

Asked whether he was aware of English media stories linking him with Manchester United, he said: "For me, no. I have heard the rumors but I am happy here. I have still got a few years left on my contract.

"I am happy, we are winning trophies and I want to keep doing that here at Madrid. It is different football. I am enjoying a lot this experience, this culture, and trying to take it all in and enjoy it."
